KINGPIN; Nigerian born Kingsley Okpi, is a multitalented artist, producer
and studio engineer. Many may not have heard about him and may wrongfully
assume that he is a novice in the music business. However he has
previously worked with a host of other Nigerian artists and producers such
as Gino, Dagrin, SosSick and LayLow to name a few. Though he has been busy
behind the scenes working with artists in his own studio; 'DaSort',
situated in Lagos, he has decided that the time has come for him to claim
his space on the other side of the mic and share his own artistic side. On
the 20th of May 2010, he performed at the Ascology Soccer Fiesta
headlined by 9ice, Terry G, Mode9, Durella and many others. That was his
first experience of a big live audience and the response he got after the
show made him even more determined to explore a career as a recording
artist.

His influences include the likes of Jay-Z, Jadakiss and Nas but his
greatest inspiration is Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs. As a budding entertainment
entrepreneur and music industry mogul, KingPin has an admiration for 'P.
Diddy' because of the way he has successfully coverted his love for music
and the fashion and entertainment industry into a world recognised and
multi award winning business brand! On his preferred genre of music, he
says; “Before going into production, Rap was my one and only love. But
after working with various talented artists on various genres of music, I
lost all inhibitions! Barriers were broken and artists like Brian Adams
and Jon Bon Jovi began to inspire me. I am now open to any genre and I
listen to everything. My favourite song at the moment is Drake’s ‘Over’.
Artists like L’il Wayne and Drake are all merging elements from various
genres to create great sounds. That is what I find most satisfying about
this career. The creative possibilities are endless! Rap is now my first
NOT only love.”

To date, KingPin has recorded at least 50 full songs as well as remixes of
popular hits which have gone down well with his fans on the social
networking site Facebook. His debut single 'HOLLERING' has featured on
mixed tapes and is now available on iTunes along with bonus tracks which
include a tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. For more on

The duo now known as God’s Own Radicals was formed in 2001 when three young undergraduates of the then Ogun State University now known as Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago – Iwoye, Ogun State in the South – Western part of Nigeria met at a local fellowship. They had in common a passion for hip-hop and rap music and observed there was a vacuum in this genre of music in their environment.

The Trio of Daddy D, Don – L and Donna –T started out by miming songs of foreign rap and hip- hop artistes and progressed into writing, composing and arranging their own material and ministering in their local fellowship and at other concerts in and around the University environment. The moniker: God’s Own Radicals came up as a result of the fact that at the time they started rap was not popular as a genre of gospel or contemporary Christian music as it was seen as too secular. Thus stepping out and doing something against the established norms made them radicals of some sort.

God’s Own Radicals is now left with Don – L and Donna – T as Daddy withdrew from the group upon his graduation from the University. Together they have continued to record songs working with producers like the award winning Biglo, Pagag McOyett, E Twinz, JayStunt, Kayode Omotade, 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards nominee The Dream, Bisi Akins amongst others and shot their first promotional video: Praise Him directed by 2009 NMVA nominee Ak One which received generous airplay on stations around the country and on the continent on both Terrestrial and Satellite Platforms.

They have also shot a second video for the song titled Omo Naija. Shot at the impressive Nike Art Centre in Lekki, Lagos Nigeria. The video centres on the Positive nature of Nigerians, the unbending and never say die spirit shared by this great country that is home to over 150 million people.

God’s Own Radicals employ a sound that is distinctly Nigerian with thumping drumlins and driving beats as well as the use of indigenous languages along with the English language in their songs. The songs cover a wide range of subjects with emphasis on the praise of the Most High God as well as the daily living. Now married to each other, Don – L and Donna – T are determined to keep spreading the Word to the ends of the earth. This they do by ministering in churches, concerts and events around the country. God’s Own Radicals can be followed on www.houseofradikalz.com and on social network sites www.facebook.com and www.myspace.com/houseofradikalz.

DON – L BIOGRAPHY

Don – L, rapper, songwriter and composer was born over two and a half decades ago in Lagos State Nigeria and attended the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, Kaduna State where he started singing the Choir. He gained admission to study law at the then Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University and graduated in 2005. It was while there that he honed his songwriting skills. The father of one also works as a consultant.

DONNA – T BIOGRAPHY

The beautiful Donna – T was born over two and a half decades ago and started singing at the early age of 8 years old when she joined the Christ Chapel Junior Choir (CCJC), a choir from the Christ Chapel International Churches (CCIC).

Omo Naija is the first single off Bigz forthcoming EP titled Starman that has been scheduled for release in July. He linked up with the UK cats S.A.S and the powerhouse of Nigerian music eLDee. eLDee is undoubtedly the best Nigerian artist when it comes to hooks and it still befuddles me how he has managed to stay on top of his game. I remember hearing him for the first time back in high school and I couldn’t refuse but to go along with the rhythm. He just knows how to breathe life into music. Enjoy the song and watch out the video. The Flygerian movement is global…let’s go. Shout out to BigzFlygerian and don’t forget to follow him on twitter.
